Good News - EPS Recycling Rates Continue To Climb

Recycling rates are reported on a bi-annual basis (every other year).

The good news is EPS recycling rates continue to climb!

  • Over 56 million lbs of EPS were recycled in 2006.
  • Almost 25 million lbs of that was "post intended use" not in-plant scrap or reject recycling.
  • In 1990 the recycling rate of EPS was about 1.7%, sixteen years later it's almost 20%.

The EPS industry needs to support maintaining this trend and find ways to make recycling easier for consumers - but there is no question the numbers are going in the right direction!
